Patrick Lavin Ashley Tisdale 17 April 2020 Word Count: Money Thirsty When a man with nothing is given power, we see the true side of who they really are. Based on a true story a man and directed by Martin Scorsese, Wolf of Wall Street shows how money and power brings greed, fake friends, and a high life. The film begins with Jordan Belfort beginning his new job on Wall Street at L.F. Rothschild, under the wing of Mark Hanna. Mark brings Jordan into this new stockbroker culture with talking about all the hookers, drugs, and sex he can ever think of. The main thing Mark told him is the main point of all of this is to put money from other people’s pockets into yours. Jordan soon after decides to open up his own brokerage firm in Long Island called Stratton Oakmont. His company grew attention quickly and so did his money. It grew so fast it drew the attention to the FBI. It came to the point where the FBI came to have a meeting with Jordan on his yacht. Jordan secretly tries to bribe the FBI Agent and the agent caught on and from there the Agent Denham knew he had Jordan right where he wanted. After all the hookers, sex, and money he could imagine, it all came to an end. Agent Durham arrested Jordan and had him betrayed his friends to get less time in prison Money changed Jordan completely from an honest working man, to a greedy, back-stabbing, and high life loser. Jordan got too ahead of himself and became this drug abusing animal who ends up getting him losing his second wife and gets himself and his friends arrested. Wolf of Wall Street proves to us how money and power can bring greed, back-stabbing friends, and a high life by the example of Jordan Belfort and his sneaky tactics. Jordan became a greedy man after being introduced to the stockbroker culture and let the money get the best of him. • Jordan became greedy for money, sex, and drugs. • He becomes greedy towards his investors. After he realizes he is caught and even before he realizes he is caught he always understood that it was still all for himself. • He threw his friends under the bus by wearing a wiring in a conversation getting his friends to confess • Jordan and all his friends were taping other people up with money to go on a plane so they couldn’t get in trouble with the money, even though Jordan tells Donnie he still agreed to wearing the wire • Another instance is where Brad got arrested being Donnie shows up to a drop off high out of his mind. Money made Jordan high on drugs, women, and more money. • Jordan lost both his wives to partying • Jordan would hold office parties for his employees with hookers, midgets, drugs, booze, etc. • Jordan went from the highest of highs to rock bottom
