Summary of Clinical Issue (200-250 words):
Nursing is a professional practice that aims at providing quality and integral care to human life for the promotion of health, illness prevention, and the overall wellbeing of society. The essence of the nursing profession is to provide care to any individual in the community by conducting health assessments, diagnosis, planning, and evaluation of patients. However, despite the level of importance the nursing profession has, nurses globally are constantly faced with the challenge of increased stress levels caused by burnout experience in their places of practice. The main problem that exposes nurses to burnouts that lead to increased levels of stress is the high workload. When any human is faced with stressful events they adjust by using coping strategies. Nurses being human also adapt to these conditions but on a personal level, every single individual faces challenge differently. For instance, some particular nurses may decide to apply stress strategies to cope while others may decide to call it quits on the profession. Nurses as a profession encompass many elements that can trigger stress in any individual. Nursing roles are quite complex and deal with human lives from a closer perspective and are prone to be negatively affected by some unwanted outcomes. Also, nurses face a challenge of conflict with professions, overload of work due to inadequate staff, and role obscurity. Burnout is a major problem since it affects the quality of care offered to patients and leads to job dissatisfaction with the nurses themselves.

It is qualitative research since there is no systematic measure of variables and test hypothesis. In simple terms, no mathematical models are in use.

Purpose Statement
In Jordan, there is a high rate of workplace bullying of nurses compared to western nurses. This can be explained by the lack of a well-organized work environment and lack of a well-defined scope of nursing practice in Jordan. The paper explores nursing practice problems in three private hospitals and identifies problems and possible solutions
In workforce research analysts identify burnouts as an “outcome”. Despite this, the factors encompassed in burnout itself are not thoroughly explained and explored. In this study, the main focus is to provide detailed research that illuminates theorized relationship between burnouts and other factors
Many scholars have illuminated the subject of “burnout” in nurses. They have investigated theorized relationships with burnout to discover what is known about the factors that control and lead to burnout in nurses. The research reviews these scholarly articles by providing a comprehensive analysis and finding out the extent of the research.

Research Question
What is the reason for nurse burnouts in Jordan hospitals? Is there a difference in the treatment of nurses between the private and public sectors in Jordan
What is the relationship between the consequence of burnouts and theories of burnouts?
How does burnout affect a nurse’s personal life?

Outcome

The research conducted determined that burnouts were majorly caused by low staffing levels, high workload, and long shifts. Burnouts pose a significant problem for both staff and patience in general. The aftermath can be very severe for both parties involved.
The research conducted found out that occupation and organization factors played a major role in nurses’ burnouts development. Purpose Statement
The coronavirus pandemic affected every single individual globally. the safety of healthcare workers was of great concern since they worked directly as the response teams of patients of the highly spreading virus. During this pandemic, nurses experienced a different set of emotions: worries about their health, their colleague’s health, and also their families. The constant changing of advice concerning the disease also resulted greatly in nurses’ burnouts during the pandemic.
Nurses working in different health institutions face various challenges that lead to burnout and stress. Nurses have more workloads of patients that affect their physical and mental state. Due to the effects of stress on both the nursing personnel and the patient it is imperative to design coping strategies for stress to avoid any health setbacks.
Shift work is quite imperative in hospitals since patience are supposed to provide a 24-hour service. The nursing profession requires that every nurse adhere to this for the providence of quality health care and saving lives. Researches have however associated work shifts with changes in biological functions that affect the mental and physical state of an individual

Research Question
What was the impact of the pandemic on nurses?
What are the best stress-coping strategies that should be employed by nurses?
Does work shift affect nurses’ stress levels and cause burnouts in practical nursing hours?

Outcome
The results suggest that nurses’ workloads due to inadequacy and unfavorable working environments have contributed significantly to an increase in burnouts and stress levels in nurses.
The results obtained showed burnout present in three important dimensions; emotional exhaustion, personal achievement reduction, and depersonalization. Nurses often use problem and emotional-oriented strategies to cope with stress and reduce burnouts during work.
The analysis found out that most nurses who worked on the night shifts were mostly older male professionals who had been in the profession for a long and were receiving higher salaries. The night shift has less workload than the day shift. The study established a lot of affected nurses worked on the day shift which had extreme demand and the nurses are categorized to be mostly women in a stable relationship. This causes a spike in nurse burnouts and stress levels.

Setting

University hospital in Italy
Latvian nurses
Philanthropic medical facility

Sample
The samples were obtained from a web-based cross-sectional study of the university hospital in Italy
The study used the ways of coping scales that were completed by 484 nurses
A sample of 502 participants participated out of the total 510 selected

Method

Key Findings of the Study
There was significant evidence that burnout in nurses was not as a result of covid-19 working environment or being exposed to the patients but rather the workload, stress, and lack of emotional support
There was significant evidence that emotional and problem-oriented coping strategies were employed by most nurses
There was a significant difference of burnout rates in nurses in the two different working shifts

Recommendations of the Researcher
More investment in mental wellbeing and a better environmental and operational working environment will significantly improve the situation
Nurses employing stress coping strategies are in a much better position to fight the stress level and burnouts associated with the practice.
Individual strategies and measures should be used to decrease the stress level in the different shifts keeping in mind different shifts have different effects on nurses.
