Find a news source originating from a non-North American major world region. The source article must be about an issue or conflict occurring in that major world region. After finding this source, write a response linking the issue or conflict to course materials.
Part I: Find a current events source
Search the internet to find a respected news source originating from a major world region of your choice. You may NOT choose North America. The news source you choose must provide news in English, or needs to be translated to English. It is perfectly fine if your source also provides news in another language; click “Translate this” using a Google web browser if this is the case. The article should be about a socio-cultural or natural geographical issue or conflict primarily affecting the region from which the news source originates. This means that the news source and region of issue/conflict should match; do not use international news agencies like Reuters, AP, BBC, and the like.
Part II: Write a response
At the top of your document include the region and your name.
Write a response in which you:
1. Summarize the article utilizing course concepts
2. State how you think the issue would be best treated or solved and by whom or what kinds of actors/organizations.
Make sure to include a link to the new source (or its translation) at the end of the response paper.
