Personal Narrative Assignment: Examining the Intersections between the Self, Globalization and Social Justice through an Interpersonal and Intercultural Perspective.
You will be answering the following question for your personal narrative assignment. Please answer the question in an essay format using the knowledge gained from the course so far.
How is the personal also political in your own life?
What I would like you to do is examine an aspect of your own life. Something you have experienced that not only impacts you, but is something that similarly impacts many. Something where the implications are not only personal-but in fact also political.
One example was the Ted Talk we watched on Girl Trek. What was happening in the households of those women was happening across the country. Black women were dying from preventable obesity related diseases due to systemic racism and trauma. The personal was in fact a political issue affecting black women across the country.
For this assignment you will be combining your own personal narrative with research. You will be writing an essay and you will research at least 4 sources from a peer reviewed journal to back up your findings using Seneca libraries. It is also important that you weave in concepts from the course throughout your narrative from both an interpersonal and intercultural perspective. Please reference and cite everything appropriately.
The essay should be 5-7 pages double spaced in Times New Roman font. Please write a solid introduction, body paragraphs and a strong conclusion. You will be using APA for your citations and references. You need to ensure that you have a reference list. It is important that you begin your research early because finding good sources takes time. The assessment rubric can be found below. Refer to this document to help you with APA: https://seneca.libguides.com/apa
The assignment is due at the beginning of class for week 9.
