RESPOND TO CLASSMATES

RESPONSE1

When it comes to the planning and development of a health care facility there are different local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines that have to be followed and implemented during the process. The guidelines that have to be followed when doing this ensures that the environment that is being designed is conducive to the targeted population of the facility. Local, state, and federal guidelines are not only set for this reason but to make sure that everything is safe for the public. Things such as meeting the coding requirements for the electrical wiring to making sure that the facility is prepared with sprinkler systems just in case there is a fire are some examples. The regulations and guidelines that are set for facility planning must be done and checked off before the facility has the ok to proceed with the opening. Not all facilities have to check off on the same guidelines. Some of the guidelines depend on the type of facility that is being opened as well as the population that they will serve.

RESPONSE2

In the healthcare industry there are many laws and regulations created in order to help protect various facilities and different levels of the healthcare. Although many organizations have their own policies and procedures generated by human resources, there are still laws in place for legal, safety and regulation requirements that must be executed. When thinking about facility design, there are many federal, state and local laws that must be considered. Many of these laws were created to make sure safety for patients and physicians alike were a key factor. As well as ensuring that quality of care will be excepted by a properly designed facility.

In order to build a new facility, the designers have to follows codes and regulations not just on a federal level, but state and local levels too. Each state and local laws might differ from other locations so this is important to do research and planning before moving forward with the design process. Additionally, its important to look at building requirements for healthcare facilities and be specific as to what type of building this will be.
